About
Gabriela is City Councilor for District 1, representing Charlestown, East Boston, the North End and the Waterfront District. She was elected in May 2022 and is currently the Chair of the Committee on Government Operations and the Committee on Environmental Justice, Resiliency, and Parks. Councilor Coletta Zapata will attend the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park's May meeting to share updates on her work inside and outside the Boston City Council.
Gabriela has community activism in her blood. She was raised by community advocates in East Boston and grew up attending civic association meetings, neighborhood events, and even multiple protests against airport runway expansion with her mom, Nina. She has dedicated her entire life to working in service to others and giving back to the beautiful, diverse neighborhoods that have given her so much.
In 2017 she was Campaign Manager for Councilor Edwards successful 2017 campaign for the Boston City Council.…
